2020

As I am writing this, there are only 10 days left until Christmas, 2020.  As most would agree, this has been quite a year because of the COVID-19 virus which has basically shut down the entire world. I never would have dreamed something like this could happen despite all the novels and movies that released before this year on this very topic. The Year 2020 has been a doozy!

Even though there has been a lot of death and tragedy, I can still find so much to be thankful for. Both of my boys moved to remote learning and maybe that wasn’t fun for them, but I cherished every moment with everyone home and the time we’ve spent together. I took up a new hobby of baking sourdough bread (along with the rest of the world). Not limiting myself to only bread, I tried waffles, bagels, pretzels and pizza dough. It took me a good 3 months to learn on my own and through YouTube videos. It made the time pass and my family loved the results … mostly! After eating all the bread, I was challenged to get outside more and get as much fresh air as I could since we were limited from a lot of other activities.

I was also able to start a new adventure as a Trim Healthy Mama coach.

This has been a dream of mine for a while, but it never seemed like the right time. I am extremely passionate about the knowledge I have learned that has changed my life so drastically.  I thought to be a good coach, I needed to be perfect and at my goal weight. However, with the encouragement of two other coaches, I realized I could really do this. I thought maybe I could better relate to my future clients because I am still working on myself. Let’s face it, we are all a continuous work in progress. The more I reach out to help women, the more I see how women are seeking a better life.  This means eating healthier, getting more exercise and spending more quality time with those we love.

Now more than ever, people are looking for change and equality for everyone. As a new blogger, I now have the ability and platform to make a difference in the lives of women here and around the world.

Today I’d like to share with you a ministry very close to my heart. It is grounded in the scripture of Proverbs 3:3 –

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”

Binding Love was founded by Audra Peifer in 2012 when she was called to act and raise money to rescue girls from sex trafficking. With her sewing skills she created a scarf out of recycled clothing. Each scarf is unique and handmade by volunteers with 50% of the proceeds going to Thailand. There are two homes there dedicated to provide safety, food, clothing, love, emotional and spiritual support to the girls in their care. There is so much more information on their website – bindinglove.org – where you can read about the influence of each home on these on the girls who are found lost and without hope. The scarves are so beautiful, and I love the fact that they are one-of-a-kind!

Binding Love also has a presence on Facebook and Instagram with even more information. It’s still not too late to purchase a last-minute Christmas gift and with so much meaning behind it.

As we end the year 2020, I am filled with hope.

Not for my future, but my hope is in the Lord. Life may not always go exactly as we plan, but God is still Sovereign and Good. If we all take the time to look for someone who needs a little love, hope, and forgiveness this season, we could make a difference in someone’s life. Even if you reach just one person, it would be worth it.
